About Children's Books Out There
Children's Books Out There (CBOT) was founded in 2021 on Facebook to review foreign children books not yet translated into Thai. Its main aim is to diversify children's reading in Thailand, the SEA region, and around the world.
Since taking on the role of a foreign rights agent in 2022, CBOT has successfully sold the rights to two books (from Norway and Slovenia) and many more are currently in negotiation processes. CBOT also assists publishers in applying for book grants and gives them advice on buying and selling foreign rights.
About Tarn (Bulwach Sereechaiporn)
Children's Books Out There (CBOT) was founded in 2021,
right after its founder, Tarn, graduated
from an international Erasmus Mundus course
in Children's Literature, Media, and Culture (CLMC).
She received a scholarship to study for two years
and came back to her home country,
full of hopes and inspirations.
Tarn started a Facebook page which, over two years,
has provided research-based reviews of over 200 children's books from several countries.
She created detailed journals for multiple international book fairs,
aiming to expand the perspectives of Thai gatekeepers of children's literature.
Additionally, Tarn works as a regular freelance editor for non-fiction books at Bookscape,
translates picture books for Barefoot Banana,
serves as a proofreader for textbooks,
and translates self-help books for O2.
Last but not least, Tarn works as a foreign rights agent
for various European and Thai publishers/book makers,
and hope to get to know more ASEAN and Asian publishers very soon.
